Our Artist Residency program provides affordable space for performing artists to develop and present their work in three distinctive venues: the grand 420-seat Sanctuary Theater, the intimate 74-seat Balcony Theater, and the flexible and spacious McAlpin Hall.

Join us on select Sunday nights for free movie nights in the Sanctuary Theater. Film series themes include West Side Stories, featuring movies set on the Upper West Side, and The Next Hundred Days: Documentaries for a New Administration.

A spring festival of new and innovative puppetry developed over the course of a six-month residency.

Creating Peace is an innovative project that combines deep and meaningful, in person engagement with diverse communities and the amplifying power of social media to foster peace. Participants of each Creating Peace session will be provided with basic theatrical training and invited to take part in long-table discussions with experts in the field. Sessions will occur on a regular basis throughout the 2017-2018 season.

Ethics + Aesthetics

We value work that challenges aesthetic and cultural boundaries, builds lasting relationships among artists and audiences, engages with underserved and underrepresented communities, and is created and presented in inclusive contexts.
