About the Lead Artist
Brigid Le Minez (née O’Leary) is originally from New York and has been immersed in the world of dance since a young age. She studied Irish step dance as a child, followed by ballet at Elfriede Merman’s Manhattan Ballet School, Joffrey Ballet School, Staten Island Ballet, and American Ballet Theatre’s summer program.
As a teenager, she was introduced to character dance and it married Ms. Le Minez’s early interest in traditional folk dance and her ballet training. She has danced professionally with Staten Island Ballet Company, Victoria Ballet Theater, International American Ballet and American Liberty Ballet.
With an unwavering commitment to diversity and inclusion, Brigid Le Minez founded the New York International Dance Festival. This project stems from her determination to cultivate talent and facilitate creative exchange and she views her festivals as a form of activism for supporting diversity, inclusion, peace, justice and artistic freedom.
Ms. Le Minez has had the honor of bringing the NY International Dance Festival to perform at Le Mandapa theater in Paris, France and we participate in other local dance festivals and events such as The Center at West Park’s 2025 Evolution Festival last September! NYIDF is a proud member of le Conseil International de la Danse-UNESCO and is fiscally sponsored by The Field, NYC.
Brigid is an alumna of Fordham University at Lincoln Center and of the Middlebury College French School/La Sorbonne. She has taught French at St. Paul’s School in NH, Rutgers Preparatory School, LCJ Summit Middle School in NJ and Professional Children’s School, The Dalton School in Manhattan and is currently a teacher in Newark Public Schools.
