Venue Booking Policies

The policies for Licensing a Venue (“Venue”) at the Center at West Park (“CWP”) are as follows. By Licensing a Venue at CWP, Licensee (“Licensee”) agrees to abide by the following rules and policies:

  1. Payment: The Security Deposit is due upon receipt of invoice. The License fee is due by no later than the start of the License or the schedule set out by the terms of the license, whichever is earlier. All payment must be made by check or credit card. All checks shall be made out to: The Center at West Park, Inc.
  2. Cancellation and Refunds: Notice of cancellation must be made by email to No refunds shall be issued for Licenses cancelled less than 72 before the start of the License. No refunds shall be issued for public performance or event Licenses cancelled less than 30 days before the start of the License. Refunds for earlier cancellation may also be limited or prohibited by the terms of the License. There are no refunds for weekly performance license agreements. 
  3. Security: All doors in CWP facilities, especially the entrances on 86th Street and Amsterdam Avenue, must be kept closed at all times unless they are actively monitored by Licensee or Licensee’s Stage Manager or other staff provided by Licensee at Licensee’s expense. The entrance doors on 86th Street and on Amsterdam Avenue must be locked at all times unless actively monitored as above. Licensee’s failure to monitor open doors may result in the forfeiture of the Security Deposit.
  4. Buzzer System: Doorbells at the 86th Street entrance connect to a buzzer system throughout the building. Please ask your team members, cast, crew, and staff to use the appropriate doorbell for your space. Please do not allow them to ring the buzzer for The Center at West Park or another tenant as it is disruptive to the work of artists and administrators throughout the building. Please make sure your team members, cast, crew, and staff have a phone number to call (ideally, the person with your key card) if they cannot get inside the building. All buzzer system interfaces can be silenced or turned off during performances.
  5. Sound and Noise: CWP is a shared use facility in a residential neighborhood. Please be considerate of the other tenants, licensees, and our neighbors when making noise inside the Venue; in the lobbies, hallways, stairwells, bathrooms, and other common areas of CWP; and on the sidewalk near CWP. No amplified sound is allowed in the common areas of CWP, and amplified sound is only allowed inside the Venue from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
  6. Animals: No pets or animals shall be brought inside the building. Service dogs are allowed with prior approval by CWP.
  7. Food and Beverages: No food or beverages, with the exception of bottled water, shall be brought into the Sanctuary Theater or Balcony Theater without the express written permission of CWP. Food and beverages are permitted in the ground level lobby areas on Amsterdam Avenue and 86th Street. All food and beverage mess must be properly cleaned up and waste must be properly thrown away or recycled.
  8. Smoking & Open Flame: There shall be no smoking, open flame, or use of electronic cigarettes anywhere in the building. Any smoking outside of the entranceway should take place at least twenty feet from the access doors.
  9. Trash and Recycling: Licensee shall keep all areas clean and all items restored to their original locations.  No trash or recycling is to be left in the building except in the bins provided. All other trash and recycling must be removed by Licensee prior to the end of the License Period.
  10. Restricted Access: Licensee shall not have access to or utilize any part of the building or CWP Facilities except the Venue and common areas.
  11. Venue Condition: Unless specifically authorized by an amendment to this Agreement,  is required to leave the Venue, including the placement of furniture or other CWP property, in the same condition in which Premises was delivered, less normal use. Folding chairs and tables should be folded and stacked on racks or against the wall.
  12. Insurance. Licensee agrees that it shall secure insurance to cover all its activities and operations at CWP. Licensee shall be responsible for the actual cost of the insurance during the License Period and any prior rehearsals at the current rate. Licensee shall furnish a proof of insurance to CWP upon request.
  13. Liability: Licensee assumes full liability for any loss and/or damage to his/her property from theft, fire, flood, water damage, vandalism or any other incident, activity or event as well as full liability for any injury or harm that may occur to any person or persons visiting the Licensee at his/her request or for purposes related to the Licensee’s business or activity in CWP Facilities.
  14. Legality: Licensee will not engage in any activity or business venture that is prohibited by city, state, or federal law, regulation, or ordinance, or is inconsistent with the mission or standards of CWP. Licensee will conform to CWP requirements and applicable building codes in the use of heating, air conditioning and sanitation services.  
  15. Morality: If, in the reasonable opinion of CWP, Licensee has engaged in or become involved with any activity or incident reasonably likely to cause harm to the name and reputation of CWP, the WPPC Building, or the WPPC Congregation, or to bring any of them into public disrepute, CWP shall have the right to immediately terminate this Agreement and to require Licensee to immediately vacate the premises and cancel any and all scheduled events.
  16. Actors Equity Association: If Licensee is working with Actors who are members of Actors Equity Association (AEA), Licensee will abide by all AEA rules and requirements.
  17. Indemnification: Licensee and CWP agree to indemnify and hold each other harmless from any and all claims, lawsuits, judgment or damages asserted by third parties arising from any breach by either party of the covenants, representations, and warranties herein. CWP assumes no responsibility for Licensee’s equipment in the event of theft or destruction, unless caused by the negligence of CWP, its agents or employees.
  18. Arbitration: Except as herein otherwise expressly provided, any and all disputes, differences or controversies arising between the parties hereto in connection with the interpretations, performance or breadth of the Agreement, shall be submitted to arbitration before one arbitrator, to be selected by the parties, or chosen in accordance with the rules and regulations of the American Arbitration Association. Arbitration shall be held in New York City by and under the rules of the American Arbitration Association, and the parties hereby agree to be bound by the determination of the arbitrator. Judgment on the award may be entered in any state or federal court having jurisdiction.  
  19. Assignment: CWP shall have the right to assign any or all of its rights hereunder to any person, firm, partnership, venture, or corporation without limitation, provided such assignee assumes CWP’s obligations hereunder and provided that CWP shall not thereby be released of its obligations hereunder unless such assignment is to a limited partnership or joint venture formed. This Agreement shall be binding on and inure to the benefit of each of the parties hereto, their respective heirs, successors and assigns.
